Native Plant Garden Tour & Bioblitz

A dear friend to plants and pollinators alike has offered to give us a tour of his native plant garden! This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wants to set up a garden using native plants but isn't sure where to start. We'll also be conducting a bioblitz while we're there.
An active local native plant gardener and community volunteer, he frequently organizes backyard native plant sales, shares surplus trees or perennials , and supports local environmental initiatives like the Middlesex Centre Pollinator Team. We're excited to hear what he has to share!
This event takes place at the front and backyard of a home with some uneven terrain. Because this is a private location, we'll send the exact address after you register. It is near to the Oakridge Arena, but this is not the exact location.

What to Bring
Outdoor-appropriate clothing and a camera or a phone with a camera if possible. You don't need to use data to use the iNaturalist app. You can upload the photos you have taken when you are connected to wifi later.

Please download iNaturalist and create your free account in advance to be ready to make observations. iNaturalist is a free app that allows the community to help gather biodiversity data that are used for research and conservation. We can help teach you how to use the app when you arrive.
What is a Bioblitz?
During these events, guides will show you how to explore an area to find all kinds of diversity that you never knew was all around you! These events are more focused on exploring. We will make iNat observations and volunteers and participants can share information about some of the interesting species that we find along the way.
All of our events are for anybody - no prior knowledge or experience is required!
